Dori Media’s first show nominated at SDA was chosen as a winner for 2018

Dori Media Group announces that “The New Black” has been named the Best Comedy in the 13th Seoul International Drama Awards festival which took place on September 3rd in Seoul.
This year, the awards ceremony considered 268 dramas from 56 countries. “The New Black” was selected among 28 nominees having successfully passed the preliminary selection, and made it through the final round of the jury panel.

Unlike other domestic awards ceremonies, the Seoul Drama Awards is a team effort between KBS, MBC, SBS, and EBS, as well as the Korean Broadcasting Association, to spread knowledge of foreign dramas in Korea and Korean dramas worldwide. This year the jury focused on the importance of a well-structured drama, as well as storytelling and the universality that can overcome the barriers of culture as their main point of evaluation.

“The New Black”’ produced by Dori Media Darset, became a ratings success on HOT channel in Israel. The show is a winner of all major awards in the Israeli TV Academy Awards in 2017 including the Best Comedy. It is also the most watched TV show on cable in Israel this year. Winning the SDA award allowed the show to join the lines of well-known international comedies, such as “Backets” and “Fleabag” which were named best comedies in 2017 and 2016 respectively.

“The New Black” is a comedy about the new generation of young people who live and study in the most prestigious orthodox yeshiva and live a dream. They have lost interest in studies long ago, but do not have the courage to leave. While all those around them think they are studying hard, Meir, Avinoam, Gedaliah and Dov have a new agenda. On the one hand, they enjoy the benefits of the prestigious and respected yeshiva student status in the orthodox society, and on the other hand, they take all the pleasures of a modern life. Until a new supervisor arrives and decides that the end the gang’s hedonism life has come.
