The deal sees the culmination of a successful period of ownership for Sony Pictures Television in Dori TLV since 2014. Dori Media Group will fully consolidate its ownership of Dori TLV’s Israeli channels and operations.
Dori Media Group (“DMG”, “the Company”) announces that it has agreed terms to acquire Sony Pictures Television’s (“SPT”) 50% stake in Dori TLV. The deal represents an opportunity for Dori Media to consolidate its control of the business unit following SPT’s decision to exit the business.
Dori TLV owns and operates two daily drama channels, Viva and Viva Plus carried by all Israeli multi-channel platforms and a third, new one, launched in April, Viva Vintage, which is carried by the 2 main platforms, HOT and YES. Dori also operates an AVOD service, offering daily dramas to Israeli surfers through viva.walla.com.
The VIVA branded telenovela channels, VIVA and VIVA Plus, are carried by all Israeli multi-channel platforms. VIVA boasts high viewership loyalty and is continuously amongst the four most popular entertainment cable television channels in Israel according to HOT Telecom’s audience measurement system. The co-branded online FVOD service VIVA Walla, which offers telenovelas through Walla.co.il, continues to attract high viewership.
Dori TLV is also a prominent provider of Electronic Program Guide (EPG) services to platforms in Israel.
Dori TLV also owns Dori Media OT, a technical services arm, offering subtitling, dubbing, video & audio editing and format conversions. Dori Media Ot is one of the largest of its kind in Israel and has served such clients as Netflix, Disney, Sony Pictures, and many other broadcasters and production companies in Israel and around the globe.
