Dori Media Group (“DMG”, “the Company”) announces that it has sold its hit comedy format “Date Blind (Ciega a Citas)”, as well as the Spanish version “Ciega a Citas”, to the French broadcaster and producer AB Groupe.
AB Groupe is one of France’s leading broadcasting groups and owns a number of France’s most popular pay-TV channels, including RTL9 and AB1. The group has a catalogue of approximately 28,000 hours covering a range of genres, including fiction, animation and feature-length films.
“Ciega a Citas”, winner of the prestigious Martín Fierro and Rose d’Or awards, has become a significant international hit, having recently been sold to Russia, China and Germany. The show has achieved huge success in the Spanish-speaking world, with the Spanish version of the show increasing its time slot’s rating on Mediaset España’s Cuatro channel by 40%.
“Ciega a Citas” tells the story of Lucía, a woman who overhears her mother making a bet with her younger sister that she won’t be able to bring a real boyfriend to her sister’s wedding. Lucía sets out to find a genuine loving boyfriend, knowing all too well that she has only 258 days at her disposal until her sister’s wedding day.
Nadav Palti, CEO & President of Dori Media Group commented: ““Ciega a Citas” has already achieved great international success and this latest sale to France’s AB Groupe demonstrates just how versatile the format is. We are sure the show will be as popular in France as it has been in other parts of the world and are confident the format’s international reach will continue to expand.”
Richard Maroko, AB Groupe’s Executive Vice President of Programs, added: “This is a great opportunity for AB Droits Audiovisuels to acquire the rights to one of today’s most original and creative series and to distribute the series on the French-speaking European market. It is a new step in our strategy to add premium programming to our portfolio.”
